Digipack image 1

For our digi pack images, we wanted to give the audience and fans a more personal connection with the artist. With indie artists, the convention is to not show the artists face on the album cover, and they are normally not very revealing about the artists history and values upfront, however the artist normally do personal interviews etc for fans who want more.

Exclusivity is a huge trend in indie culture, where the fans like to feel they are part of an exclusive club. We wanted to create this feel by adding in behind the scenes pictures and footage from our music video. As well as giving a personal touch from the artist any way we can.

For the first image, we decided to use one we took on the set of the video, this again promotes the music video and the single in the digi pack and encourages the audience to watch it.
The image also shows the artist in a more relaxed , natural state, which makes the audience able to create a par asocial relationship with him and feel like they are getting an insight into the artist and what he's like.

The photo was actually staged, and made up to look like the artist is casual and relaxed, this is because in the music industry, lots of effort goes into making sure all elements of an advertising campaign conform to the image they want to present for the artist. Even for indie bands who like to pretend that isn't the case, more often than not, the record label and marketers guide them on their promotions and advertising to make sure it fits the image that the fans expect of them.
